Global Fundraising Futures Seminar to help INGOs access untapped wealth

The Management Centre’s annual Global Fundraising Futures Seminar, taking place in London on 10 September 2009, will show delegates how to identify and successfully enter new fundraising markets.  As economic woes deepen, leading fundraising experts from =mc and across the charity sector will reveal how fundraisers can step up to the challenge and get ready for the future of fundraising.

Global Fundraising Futures explores the three competencies essential for future fundraising success:

Internationalisation – exploring emerging markets, how to make successful entry into new markets and how to develop a genuinely global fundraising operation

Integration – how to work in a more joined up strategic way across regions, countries, markets and staff teams

Innovation – how your organisation can prepare for the future by becoming systematically innovative, developing new practices and resilience, The Global Fundraising Futures Seminar features case studies from UNICEF, CARE International, the Red Cross, Greenpeace, Hogar de Christo, Habitat for Humanity and the World Food Programme.

Speakers include :

• Mark Astarita, British Red Cross

• Paula Birnbaum-Guillet and Omar Mahmoud, UNICEF International

• Mario Fetz, Director of External Relations, International Diabetes Federation (IDF)

• Amanda Seller, Director of Fundraising, UNHCR

• Julie Vehaar, Greenpeace International

Bernard Ross, Director of The Management Centre, says:

“International fundraisers must expand their horizons.  Currently, many rely too heavily on tried and tested fundraising practices and increasingly crowded donor marketplaces in Europe and the US.  Instead, they need to be seeking funds in new and emerging markets, developing an effective and coherent strategy that integrates fundraising activity across global offices and developing a systematic approach to innovation.  Diversification into new fundraising practices is essential to ensure your organisation has the competitive advantage.”

Carol Monoyios , Marketing and Communications Director at CARE International UK will deliver a session on the challenge of engaging major donors in international causes. She adds:

“The issues around engaging major donors in an international cause can vary hugely, creating both practical and moral dilemmas for fundraisers. In my experience, the key is to recognise the challenges early on, involve the right people across the organisation from the outset, and acknowledge that being donor-led is not always the best way to achieve both the organisational or fundraising objectives.”
