Performance Management for Managers

Maximising organisational effectiveness through individual performance

Performance Management for Managers is based on =mc’s years of experience of working in-house with organisations to help improve managers’ skills and confidence in managing performance.

Benefits to you and your organisation

  • explore a range of techniques and skills which you can apply straight away in your organisation to improve performance at all levels
  • link performance standards required of individuals and teams to the strategic needs and priorities of your organisation
  • create an integrated performance management system
  • work to an improved and consistently high level of performance across your organisation

Core modules

  • Managing performance on an individual level: performance management cycle, objective setting and review, coaching and development, managing poor performance
  • Effective systems: the manager’s role and responsibilities, step-by-step approach, benefits and pitfalls, cutting edge approaches
  • Performance measurement and appraisals: process and practice, structure and style, skills for success, how to ‘measure’
  • Tools and techniques: developing goals and measures, evaluation techniques, competency-based approaches, balanced scorecard, EQF
  • Strategic performance issues: linking organisational, team and individual planning to overall mission, integrating people processes
  • Current and future challenges: performance in a time of change, new ways of working, benchmark practices
  • Action planning: identify key areas, improving your performance, setting up development plans

Learning approaches

This is a highly participative programme with time built in for reflection. Through trying out ideas, practising skills, working on individual issues and tackling problems in small groups, participants find themselves directly engaged with all the key issues.

Participants will also be challenged by some of the latest thinking and current ideas, which they can use to benchmark themselves and their organisation – and plan their approach for the future.

workshop

This course was invaluable in improving my skills and confidence in conducting development reviews with my colleagues. It has also given me a much clearer understanding of the links between individual and corporate performance.
