Georgina Wright

Georgina is a Learning & Development Consultant at =mc. She specialises in management development and performance management.  Having previously worked for 20 years in the fast paced commercial world, she has several years’ experience in this sector.  Her experience includes working as an HR generalist, managing volunteers and volunteering extensively herself. Before working at =mc, Georgina provided training, advice and guidance to all levels of management and team members.  She also supported the delivery of various projects, initiatives and organisational change programmes.

Her current and recent projects include:

Working with Evolve Housing + Support, Surrey Police and Versus Arthritis to develop and run various workshops covering: leadership skills, coaching, feedback, challenging conversations, enabling performance and getting the best from teams.

In addition, Georgina coaches individuals to overcome challenges and has worked with individuals and groups from a wide range of third sector organisations including the British Red Cross, the MS Society, London Borough of HackneyThe RSC, Central St Martins, UCL, World Cancer Research Fund and WWF to develop their management skills at various levels.

My areas of expertise:

  • Management development
  • Performance management
  • Effective team working
  • Facilitation
  • Coaching

At the moment

I am currently focusing on upskilling managers at various levels to enhance their ability to successfully manage themselves, their teams and projects. This includes a range of learning approaches such as practical training programmes and 1:1 coaching. I have developed and facilitated feedback training for various organisations, delivering this alongside key Management Skills, Project Management and Time Management skills training. As well as the organisations above, I have been working with Reading UniversityFriends of the EarthAction Against Hunger and Marie Curie.

I have hosted multiple very successful open programmes which have had a wide range of delegates and organisations in attendance. These are a real pleasure for me due to the variety of delegates and organisations that attend. I love hearing about what delegates and their organisations are currently focusing on and how we can help them overcome their challenges. Common concerns shared by delegates include; uncertainties in the face of Brexit and the need to diversify income streams; doing more with less to get greater results; the impact on the third sector of evolving public services; and decreasing trust from the public for the ethical sector.

Our open programmes also give delegates excellent networking opportunities and it’s great to hear stories being shared and numbers swapped.

Before =mc

Before =mc I worked in Management, L&D and HR, both in the commercial and third sectors.  In regional and national roles I have advised staff, managers and senior leaders regarding all employment issues, identifying the best solutions given the circumstances.  Throughout my career my satisfaction has come though supporting others to improve both professionally and personally, drawing me once again back into learning and development.  Having volunteered extensively oversees and in the UK for third sector organisations, I am inspired by, and really passionate about this sector.

During my career I have had the pleasure of upskilling managers and leaders to implement large change projects with confidence, facilitating team cohesion and effective performance. I have also developed and facilitated numerous bespoke learning interventions.  A particular highlight  has been facilitating lasting change in organisational effectiveness and efficiencies through team away days.  During these sessions teams successfully identified ways to improve working, creating shared visions and aligning individual goals with strategic objectives.  Other facilitation has involved me being on project teams in matrix structures to successfully prevent conflict in highly pressured environments.

I am passionate about the huge value of timely and effective development interventions.  I understand the enormous impact that managers have on individuals’ and organisational performance. I therefore also train and coach managers to improve their interpersonal skills, overall effectiveness, team and individual performance.

It gives me great satisfaction to see people learn practical tools and techniques that enable them to achieve better results each and every day, and know that these will have a lasting impact in the sector.

In my spare time I volunteer for organisations such as the Spinal Injuries Association, Crisis, and Food Cycle.  I also combine my passion for grass roots activism and community action by being a Board Member of Out for Good,  a charitable organisation bringing together LGBT+ people across the UK to make a difference in their communities.
