Leonard specialises in management development, communications skills and personal effectiveness.
Leonard has more than 10 years’ experience in training, operations, people, and project management in the public sector in Singapore. Before joining =mc learning, he was a senior naval officer, specialising in training teams for operational effectiveness.
Over the past few months, I have been working with UNICEF UK and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) on our Change programmes. The Managing Change programmes give managers a chance to boost their skills and confidence to lead a team through changes using different tools and techniques. The programme also gives managers a chance to plan how to communicate change effectively in order to support their team members. The Navigating Change with Confidence programme supports people undergoing change to better understand themselves and their reactions to changes. It also provides tools to help them deal with changes proactively.
I have been supporting Bar Standards Board and Association of Anaesthetists on our Presentation Skills programme to help participants to communicate effectively while building their confidence in their presentations. The most fulfilling part of this programme is when I get to see the immediate and significant changes to their presentation skills. I am also looking forward to working with Comic Relief on this programme.
I have also been delivering management training for managers in Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and UNICEF UK in our Management Development Programme. During the programme, I facilitate conversations and provide tools to help participants better understand their own management styles and help them gain confidence in managing themselves and their teams. If that sounds like something you would be interested in, join me in the upcoming public programme coming up in September.
Prior to working in =mc learning, I was in various management roles in the Singapore Navy and managed small teams of 3 to larger teams of 30, in areas such as training, communications and operations. My work in those areas provided me a great foundation in my ability to manage people, deliver training and motivate teams.
Back in Singapore, I volunteered with Action for AIDS, where I administered anonymous HIV tests and provided sexual health advice, to support their mission of ending HIV transmission in Singapore.
Outside of volunteering, I am also an Oxford Imp, an improv comedy troupe that entertains audience with unscripted comedy and games. As an improviser, I strive to create a safe and collaborative space for everyone to have fun and thrive in. As a learning and development consultant, I will bring that same energy to create a fun, learning environment for all participants. See you on our next programme!
