Marie Curie L&D Podcast – returning from furlough

Back to work

We’re delighted to share with you episode 6 from Marie Curie’s internal podcast series aptly named The L&D Podcast.

In this episode, Madeleine White, Learning & Development Co-ordinator at Marie Curie interviews =mc Director Laura Slater on what it’s been like to be furloughed, and how it feels returning to work.

The podcast series began internally at Marie Curie in April 2020 after the UK lockdown had begun. Madeleine says: “When lockdown began and we were faced with the fact that for the foreseeable future all our training was going to be virtual, we realised that we needed to ensure we had a diverse range of learning available so that everyone could find something that suited their learning style. We’d considered doing a podcast for a while but hadn’t gotten round to it, so we thought that this would be a perfect time to start and hopefully engage people to learn in a different way. We try to provide a variety of guests, both internal and external, to talk about a variety of different topics, from general internal updates from teams to leadership theory and so much more.”

If anyone would like to be on the podcast and has a topic they think would be interesting/useful for Marie Curie Staff, email Madeleine and the team on LDadmin@mariecurie.org.uk – they’d love to hear from you!

The organisation also have a public facing podcast called ‘On the Marie Curie Couch’ which aims to open up conversations about death, break down the taboo and encourage people to share end-of-life plans.
